KDV THEME/ROYALTY/MUSIC. The Krewe du Vieux’s 2008 theme is “Magical Misery Tour". Mardi Gras Indian, Ronald Lewis will reign over our annual stumble through the French Quarter as this year’s royalty. Ronald Lewis is best known as the founder of the Big 9 Social Aid & Pleasure Club, and most recently founded the House of Dance and Feathers in the Lower 9th Ward. Music entertainment at the DOO following the parade includes 101 Runners, Juice, special guest J.D. Hill, the Honey Island Swamp Band, and late night entertainment by Quintron and Miss Pussycat! Music starts at 9:30 pm. Click on this LINK for a flyer with great information on the Doo, music lineup and ticket venues, which you can forward to your friends.

D&D THEME/COSTUMES/FLOAT DECORATIONS: The Krewe of Drips & Discharges decided on our theme on Thursday, October 25th during our meeting at the Den of Music. It was overwhelmingly agreed by those in attendance that the Drips would take our 2008 KdV Magical Misery Tour as Sgt. Eddie's Only Honkeys Banned - a satire on the Eddie Jordan discrimination lawsuit and subsequent resignation. The Drips strongly believe that our decision had EVERYTHING to do with his resignation the following week. That's our story, and we're sticking to it!
In true Drips' fashion of encouraging creativity in our costumes, we're opening the gates this year! Pull out something you loved from the past, or create something new. Recognize anyone in the picture at the top of this page? We found Bowler "Derby" Hats at Oriental Merchandise, 2636 Edenborn Ave. in Metairie (between Vets and the I-10). Really nice for $3.60 each.
Our "Artist Extraordinaire" Ellis, has come up with another brilliant design for this year's float. Thanks Ellis - WE LOVE YOU!!!

PARADE. The 2008 Krewe du Vieux parade is scheduled for Saturday, January 19, 2008. The parade rolls promptly at 6:30 pm, and is scheduled to line up at the new location of the KdV DOO - a warehouse on the corner of Elysian Fields and Chartres. So this year, we'll end up right where we started! The new and improved parade route this year includes fewer turns, more cars will be moved off the streets, and we're just going to stay in the Marigny and French Quarter. Here's a copy of the NEW & IMPROVED parade route:

SAFETY: Please review the
Krewe du Vieux’s Safety Program - IT’S IMPORTANT - especially since we seem to get "lucky" when it
comes to our mule!
THROWS, VIDEOS & KDV SPORTSWEAR. Once again, the Drips & Discharges will provide our signature test tube throws for our members, and this year, our throws were included as part of our dues. Throws you are bringing with you on parade day should be limited to what you can carry - there will be no room on the float. Please keep it simple. KdV T-shirts, cups, and other "paraphernalia" orders are already in. For those who missed it, "paraphernalia" will be on sale at the Den of Muses on weekends - while supplies last. Below is this year's test tube handout, design for our cups, and KdV T-shirts.

FLOAT REPAIRS/UPGRADES: We tore down the float at our November 17th krewe meeting. Special thanks to Ellis, Bob, Sebastian, Todd, Rebecca, Bobby and Nate for steppin' up and making it happen so quickly. They even got a coat of paint applied! Must have been Pat's free beer that got everyone pumped up! We aren't scheduled to be in the Den until after the holidays and hope everyone will keep the first two weekends in January free to come down to the Den and help with the float and our throws. Thanks to Eileen's hubby, James, for taking charge of the electrical system and lighting this year..
DIRECTIONS
TO THE DEN OF MUSES. From Elysian Fields and the River, turn on Chartres Street (away
from the French Quarter). Go down
Chartres 4-5 blocks, one block past Feelings Cafe and Franklin Avenue (where it
makes a “V”) and turn left on Port. Go
one block and turn right on Architect.
(You can only turn right on Architect and it is only one block
long). The Den access is in the middle
of the block on the left. If you get
lost and need to call us, you can reach Amelie on her cell at 606-1080 or Pat
on her cell at 430-7113.
MEMBERSHIP DUES: Membership is closed for the year. Please review the Drips & Discharges Membership Policy & Procedures.
KREWE DU VIEUX BREWE DOO: The newly named, "Brewe-Doo, Doobie-Doo, and Cow-Poo Party" was held on Saturday, December 8th, from 6:00 til 10:00 pm at the Den of Muses. This year's Drips' theme was the "Cum In It House" - a homeless shelter for the residents at Duncan Plaza who are being kicked out to make way for progress. Special thanks and congratulations to Sebastian, for his home brewe, Squatter's Suds, which took first place in the competition - and for putting our presentation together on a moment's notice. Thanks also to Amelie for her famous Sangria - Duncan's Delight, and to Eileen for the Jello Shots. Music entertainment was provided by The Jackals. The Drips were well represented, with over half of our membership showing up to show their support. Check out the pics in our photo gallery - above.
