KDV THEME/ROYALTY/MUSIC.  The Krewe du Vieux’s 2009 theme is “KdV's Stimulus Package".  New Orleans Dynamo, Frankie Ford will reign over our annual stumble through the French Quarter as this year’s royalty.  Frankie Ford is best known for his mega hit "Sea Cruise" . . . OOH-WEE, OOH-WEE, BABY.  You can find out more about Frankie's career at http://www.frankieford.com/ff-main1.htm.  Music entertainment at the DOO following the parade includes our traditional brass band review, Eric Lindell and late night entertainment by Zydapunk!  Music starts at 9:30 pm.

D&D THEME/COSTUMES/FLOAT DECORATIONS:  The Krewe of Drips & Discharges decided on our theme on Thursday, November 20th during our "Themes and Schemes" meeting at the Bridge Lounge.  It was agreed by those in attendance that the Drips would stimulate our package as Cockmarket Investment Spankers in this year's parade.  As always, we are encouraging individual creative expression in our costumes.  Try to remember that this is a night parade, so bright colors, lighting, glo stick and glitter will make the best presentation.  Our "Artist Extraordinaire" Ellis, has come up with another brilliant design for this year's float.  Thanks Ellis - WE LOVE YOU!!!

PARADE.  The 2009 Krewe du Vieux parade is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2009.  The parade rolls promptly at 6:30 pm, and is scheduled to line up at the new location of the KdV DOO - The Studio at Colton located at 2300 St. Claude Avenue.  http://www.cano-la.org  Once again, we'll end up right where we started!  The new and improved parade route this year includes fewer turns, more cars will be moved off the streets, and we're just going to stay in the Marigny and French Quarter.  We're going to be last in the lineup this year, so there'll be no need to run!  Here's a copy of the NEW & IMPROVED parade route:

SAFETY:  Please review the Krewe du Vieux’s Safety Program  - IT’S IMPORTANT - especially since we've had a few incidents through the years with our mule!

THROWS, VIDEOS & KDV SPORTSWEAR.   Once again, the Drips & Discharges will provide our signature test tube throws for our members, and this year, our throws were included as part of our dues.  Throws you are bringing with you on parade day should be limited to what you can carry - there will be no room on the float.  Please keep it simple.  KdV T-shirts, cups, and other "paraphernalia" orders will be taken on Sundays at the Den of Muses.  Please email Treasurer Bob for cups and wooden nickel orders.  In addition, KdV "paraphernalia" will be on sale in La Farmacia at the Den of Muses on weekends - while supplies last.  Items available in La Farmacia include:  KdV T-shirts, hats, tote bags, fleece jackets, denim shirts, denim jackets and bumper stickers.

FLOAT REPAIRS/UPGRADES:  We tore down the float at our "Drips Gone Wild" meeting on October 18th.   We are scheduled to be in the Den every Sunday during the month of January, so please keep your Sundays free from now until parade day to come to the Den and help with the float and our throws.  Remember, the more you put into parade preparation, the more you'll get out of it the day of the parade.

DIRECTIONS TO THE DEN OF MUSES.  From Elysian Fields and the River, turn on Chartres Street (away from the French Quarter).  Go down Chartres 4-5 blocks, one block past Feelings Cafe and Franklin Avenue (where it makes a “V”) and turn left on Port.  Go one block and turn right on Architect.  (You can only turn right on Architect and it is only one block long).  The Den access is in the middle of the block on the left.  Here's a printable mapIf you get lost and need to call us, you can reach Amelie on her cell at 606-1080 or Pat on her cell at 430-7113.

MEMBERSHIP DUES:  Membership dues are $120.  Membership is closed for the year.  Please review the Drips & Discharges Membership Policy & Procedures.  We are still looking for krewe guardians, so get in touch with Eileen if you know of someone who would like to parade with us in this capacity.

KREWE DU VIEUX BREWE DOO:  The "Two Doos and a Poo, Too II" was held on Saturday, December 6th, from 6:00 til 10:00 pm at the Den of Muses.  This year's Drips' theme was the "Spankin' Booth".  Special thanks Sebastian, for doing his home brewe again.  Thanks also to Becca for her famous Jello Shots, and to Tonia and Diane for the decorations and entertainment.  Music entertainment was provided by The Jackals.  Once again, the Drips were well represented, with over half of our membership there to show their support.
